I'm Melissa.

I'm currently a student enrolled in the Epicodus C#/React program. I am also a fiction writer, poet, visual artist, comedian, & filmmaker. I like plants a lot.

As an upcoming graduate of the Epicodus full-stack web development program, I have spent the past months focused on advancing my proficiencies in both object-oriented and functional programming. Through the program, I have gained a robust, hands-on understanding of JavaScript/JQuery, React, and C#, while reinforcing my already-strong skillset in HTML and CSS. I have experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, REST APIs, extensive experience coding collaboratively, and familiarity with agile workflow methods.

Before Epicodus, I bounced all around the job world. I've worked as a: nonprofit ops manager, middle school english teacher, tech support rep/fakey web designer, high school english tutor, elementary daycare teacher, & marketing goon at an insurance brokerage.

I am pursuing programming because it's a field with nearly infinite applications & opportunities, because it will allow me to continue learning & creating every day, & because it’s as close to magic as most of us will ever get.
